ARTS & CULTURE

Ottawa and Franklin County are full of arts and culture. The internationally known Suzuki Strings Institute is located in Ottawa, and each June it hosts young musicians and instructors from around the world. The institute also plays at many area events and has a special Christmas concert. ACT Ottawa is dedicated to improving the community’s culture by providing a venue for artists and audiences to experience and enjoy live theater. The group puts on several plays each year. The Ottawa Community Arts Council and the Ottawa Art Guild have art exhibits and classes throughout the year at the Carnegie Cultural Center in Ottawa. Franklin County has been enriched by such prominent artists as Elizabeth “Grandma” Layton and Bill Howe.
